an invitation to pause

‘the breath’ detail

It’s hard to believe that 3 months have gone by since my last post. Life has both slowed down and whizzed by simultaneously – strange –
all of it strange – yet in someways that strangeness has opened up a world of possibilities previously unavailable – witnessing the unfolding is its own adventure – staying in a state of open curiosity, singing a little Doris Day –
‘que sera sera, whatever will be, will be,
the future’s not ours to see, que sera sera…. ‘

I posted the following on my IG account as well, so if you are signed up there this is basically a repeat.

The creative process has its own rhythms – each project its own unfolding – there’s no ‘making it happen’ there is only waiting for the expression to show up and getting ready to create it when it does. It’s easy to be impatient, hard to stay out of the way, harder yet to relinquish control –
as if I ever had any!

I have made many attempts to create the breathing meditation video with the footage that I shot in late August, nothing has felt satisfactory –
I’ve had to step back and wait for the form it was going to take to show up – in other words for inspiration – ‘inspirare’ – the breath!

Being in my yard, putting the garden to bed, being outside, ‘playing in the dirt’, was the perfect antidote for exhausted eyes, overwhelmed brain, and sore body from sitting and screen time and scrutinizing reams of footage –

And in that stepping back what I saw was that rather than one 10 minute guided meditation video, which is what I thought it would be, the piece would instead unfold gradually over time, little visual meditations everyday no formulas, no formats –
just mini moments of beauty, breath and being –

I have no idea how many I will do or how long it can be sustained, I will be making them as I go and will continue until it comes to completion or morphs into something else. I’m thinking daily but that may be a bit ambitious, given the many things on my plate – we’ll see –
I’m curious to see how it all unfolds

This is an invitation to pause, to bring awareness to our breath – to calm, to ground, to restore –
little daily injections of peace in a chaotic environment

Enjoy en joie
